Message from Terry Frayne

I am pleased to inform you that Director Neil Melmoth of FMP MOTOR FACTORS has just announced support for our RALLY CHALLENGE for a sixth year. A statement from Neil РWe are pleased to be associated with such a great Championship and wish everyone entering success in the forthcoming seasons events. We also offer our gratitude to the team who do a great deal of work behind the scenes to ensure that everything runs smoothly.

It is intended to release details of the 2018 qualifying rounds by the end of October. Registration is again just ¬£10 with complimentary Maesteg DMC membership. Through the generosity of competitors and spectators the ‘FMP’ has ensured that the Club have been able to donate an average of over ¬£1000 annually to Wales Air Ambulance over the last 5 years.

The Peter Lloyd Rallying Stages.

Carmarthen Motor Club again hosted the Peter Lloyd Rallying Stages on a day when a drying circuit and the treacherous Beach Road section made tyre choice critical and caught out the unwary.

Overall honours were taken by FMP contender, 19 year old Thomas Cooper, taking his second victory at the venue. Grandad Phil Turner had his progress hampered by a slower car but nevertheless took second overall, making it a TCS Team 1  /  2.

The Raincote Coated Metal/Curzon Wealth Management Patriot Stages

Including overseas scores

It would be a gambling man who would put a bet on Martyn and Dawn England not becoming comfortable champions at the end of the year but a string of 1st and 2nd in class results in his Vauxhall Nova has seen Llandysul man Will Mains take the lead after a dramatic last round. Martyn and Dawn slid their Fiesta R5+ into a ditch on Stage One of the Patriot Stages at Caerwent near Newport, retiring from the event.

Not content with just taking advantage and claiming valuable points, Will pressed on, again taking the Class victory. With the ‘Englands’ unable to make the next round and Will deciding against his first foray into forest rallying for the last round, Will has to take a convincing result on the penultimate round of the ‘FMP’ which¬†will take place at Pembrey on Sunday October 22nd. The Peter Lloyd Rallying¬†Stages is organised by Carmarthen Motor Club.

Round 6

The Woodpecker Stages is now a points scoring round due to the cancellation of the Red Dragon Stages. The event uses the excellent facilities at Ludlow Racecourse as it’s base before crossing the border to include the classic stages of Radnor Forest.

The organising team at Port Talbot Motor Club reluctantly ‘pulled the plug’ on the Red Dragon due to the ill health of it’s Clerk of the Course. We wish Alan a full and speedy recovery.
