Timing and Drive Belts

The objective of this course is to assist the technician in ensuring that this component has been changed in accordance with the belt manufacturers’ recommendation. The delegates will have an understanding of belt construction and of its physical limitations, which will further add to the technician’s ability to replace this component with confidence.

Course Content

  • Timing belt types: Trapezoidal Curvilinear
  • Timing belt types: Trapezoidal Curvilinear
  • The importance of wrap angles
  • Tensioner types
  • Belts alignment

Practical

  • 2 engine test rigs will be available
  • All delegates will participate in removing and refitting of the cam belts on both engines.
  • They will use electronic tension testers where practical and belts alignment diagnostics as well.
