Bald Tyres – Every Millimetre Matters
We recently posted a blog advising how to increase the life of your car tyres. But did you know that new research shows 1.4 million UK drivers are driving with tyres below the legal limit of 1.6 mm.
This is according to an investigation commissioned by Confused.com across 10 cities in the UK to find out how many motorists are driving with bald tyres. The piece uncovers how one in five (21%) cars (equivalent of 8 million), had at least one tyre with tread below the recommended limit (3mm), and 1.4 million (3%) had at least one tyres below the legal limit (1.6mm).
And further research suggests that the issue could stem from the fact that over half (55%) of motorists don’t know how to check their tyres, and three fifths (61%) don’t know what the minimum legal depth is.
To support this campaign, the company has created a tongue-in-cheek safety video  which drives home the importance of tyre safety and the devastating consequences of driving with a baldy, as well as an FAQ guide created to tackle any misconceptions of tyre safety.
